The Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club

Guarding the Future Since 1939

Grounds Improvement

In 2023, SWCC received a grant from Trout Unlimited to complete erosion prevention work on the high bluff. Bear Creek Outdoor Restoration was hired to complete the erosion prevention work, the scope of the project included: Vegetative Stabilization, Slope water bar installation and planting terrace prep, and fence installation. Mike did a wonderful job and continues to monitor foot traffic in the area and make suggestions. Bear Creek Outdoors is donating to the SWCC.

Memorials

A Celebration of Life was held for Rick Vanittersum, Rick enjoyed fishing at the club and was active in the community. A sign was placed near the clubhouse in Rick’s honor. A service and bench donation for Joanne Bjorkman, Joanne moved to the Brethren Area in June, 2023 with plans to build a home. She fell ill shortly after moving to Brethren and

spent much of her last days enjoying the peace that the grounds brought her. Joanne’s family held a memorial in her honor on site.
